About the Campaign
Overview
In order to increase its organizational
capacity and efficiency, Habitat for Humanity Quad cities is embarking
on its first capital campaign to raise $760,000 for the purchase
and renovation of a new office and warehouse.

Habitat's offices are currently located
in a 1,000 square-foot house in downtown Bettendorf. The building
no longer meets Habitat's needs, and:
-
- Lacks space for staff
to work effectively;
- - Lacks privacy and meeting space;
-
- Parking is extremely
limited; and
-
- Lacks storage for construction
materials and trailers.
Habitat is unable to take advantage of bulk pricing
and large, in-kind donations made available through Habitat for
Humanity International. Without warehouse space, Habitat is unable
to accept a truck-load of paint or a year's worth of insulation.
Campaign Impact
- - Cost savings of $4,000 - $6,000 per home by
ordering material in quantity and accepting in-kind donations
of building products.
- - Increased office space will allow Habitat to
accept interns and Americorps/VISTA volunteers.
- - Shared staff between Habitat office and ReStore
as well as cost savings on travel.

Progress
Habitat has already raised $700,000 from
several area businesses, foundations, and individual donors.
Habitat is proud to announce that 100% of the board of directors
and staff have contributed to the campaign. The final $60,000 is
critical as we will then recieve a $75,000 ending grant form the
Hubbell-Waterman Foundation.
The renovation has been stopped until we can raise
the remaining funds. We have the walls framed and the HVAC is installed.
The electrial and cabeling for our computer equipment is next.
In order to remain financially strong, Habitat
will make improvements as money is pledged. With your help, Habitat
hopes the project will be completed by Spring 2012.

Building Updates
Check out the progress being made in the renovation
of the new office and warehouse. We harvested all usable materials
during the first phase of the demolition process for sale at ReStore.
It may not look like much now, but
the future home of Habitat's office (left) will boast a conference
room, and enough space for each staff member to have his or her
own desk! The warehouse (below) will soon store inkind donations
made available through Habitat for Humanity International's corporate
relationships with companies like Dow and Valspar. These donations
along with the other cost-saving benefits of the new building, will
reduce the costs of building each Habitat home by $6,000.
