“Teaming Up for Travis” Only Days Away The foundation is finished and the plans are in place to build a Habitat home in one day on May 24, 2007 for Travis Hearn. Sponsors, businesses and individuals have contributed over $96,000 toward the $103,000 estimated cost to build the home designed to accommodate the disabled Rock Island “Rock’s” High School football player. Lead sponsors Wells Fargo Housing Foundation and Sears Manufacturing Co. contributed a total of $42,000 and sponsor Ragan Mechanical donated $10,000 toward the project costs. Businesses and individuals have donated $44,000! Thank you, Quad Cities! If you can help us reach our goal by making a donation, please send your contribution to Habitat for Humanity – Quad Cities, 2235 Grant Street, Bettendorf, Iowa 52722. Volunteer response was so overwhelming that volunteer opportunities for this build are limited. But the need still exists for support activity volunteers willing to help set up, check in volunteers, and assist in other important areas from 6:30 to 9 a.m. If you can help, call Habitat for Humanity – Quad Cities at 359-9066. Habitat for Humanity – Quad Cities is partnering with the Hearn family and trustees of the local foundation that oversees funds that have been raised for Travis to build an accessible Habitat home in the Habitat Park development. The city of Rock Island donated seven lots to Habitat for Humanity – Quad Cities at the site of the former Turtle Park bounded by 9th and 11th avenues and 8th and 9th streets. A Habitat home is currently under construction at 807 11th Avenue and will be dedicated on Saturday, May 12th at 10 a.m. The Habitat home to be built for Travis Hearn at 915 8th Street will be the second home constructed in Habitat Park. Travis will receive the keys to his new home during dedication ceremonies tentatively set for 10 a.m. on Saturday, June 16th. KWQC-TV6 has generously agreed to provide media sponsorship
for the one day build and will be broadcasting live from the build site
on May 24th. Many area contractors have agreed to supply materials and
skilled volunteers. Blue Cat Brew Pub, Hunter’s Club, Country Market
and A.D. Huesing of Rock Island and Oasis Convenient Store, Davenport,
will be providing food and beverages for volunteers the day of the build. ============================================================= Habitat for Humanity – Quad Cities is a nonprofit
