Modern Woodmen Celebrates 125th Anniversary
By Funding a Habitat House

Bettendorf, IA. In celebration of their 125th Anniversary, Modern Woodmen will partner with Habitat for Humanity Quad Cities to build a home in the Habitat Park area of Rock Island. Modern Woodmen will provide the funding as well as many volunteers to help build the 52nd Habitat house.

Groundbreaking for the home is tentatively scheduled for late summer, 2007. The Habitat project is meaningful to Modern Woodmen because the home is scheduled to be dedicated on the organization’s 125th anniversary, January 5, 2008.

“This project is a perfect way for us to celebrate Modern Woodmen fraternalism and give something lasting in our home office hometown of Rock Island,” said W. Kenny Massey, Modern Woodmen’s president and CEO. “Our mission is to improve the quality of life for our members, and that extends to their communities. Our employees are excited to volunteer this summer and make this happen.”

Founded in 1883 as a fraternal benefit society, Modern Woodmen offers financial services and fraternal member benefits to individuals and families throughout the United States.

House #52 will be the fifteenth home to be built in the city of Rock Island since Habitat for Humanity – Quad Cities was founded in 1993.
