Bettendorf, IA – On Saturday, May 5, 2007, Habitat
for Humanity – Quad Cities will break ground for the 22nd and 23rd
house to be built in Davenport. The groundbreaking ceremonies begin at
10:00 a.m. – “rain or shine.” The public is welcome
to join in this celebration.
House Build #47 will be at 1024 Tremont Avenue and will
be home to Michelle Morgan and her two daughters.
A large portion of the funding will come from Thrivent
Builds with Habitat for Humanity. Additional funding will come from the
East and West Rock Island County and the East and West Scott County Thrivent
Chapters, Wells Fargo, Scott County Housing Council and Trinity Lutheran
Church Foundation.
House Build #48 will be located at 1030 Tremont Avenue
and will become home for Greg and Angie Lange and their three children.
This house will be built simultaneously with the Thrivent Builds with
Habitat for Humanity on the adjacent lot.
Seven centrally located Davenport churches that all do
ministry outreach in the same area formed a special group called People
Uniting Neighborhoods and Churches (PUNCH). These churches are St. Johns
United Methodist, Sacred Heart Cathedral, First Presbyterian, First Baptist,
Third Missionary Baptist, Trinity Episcopal and First Christian. A large
portion of the funding for this home will come from the PUNCH Group and
Wells Fargo. Additional funding will come from Scott County Housing Council,
The Butler Family, and State Farm Insurance.
These groups will also volunteer their time to help build
the homes along with folks from Quad City area Lutheran churches.
The lot for these two properties was acquired through
the assistance of Scott County.
