Bettendorf, IA –On Saturday, October 28, at 10:00 a.m. Habitat for Humanity Quad Cities will dedicate home #40. This is the 11th Habitat house to be built in Rock Island and is located at 739 – 14 ½ Street. It will become home to the Ashanti Hall family. Ms. Hall has completed more than the required 250 hours of “sweat equity” working on her home, other partner family homes under construction, and additional Habitat activities such as homeowner classes, fundraisers and in the office.
Habitat for Humanity International and Thrivent Financial for Lutherans have formed a new alliance – Thrivent Builds with Habitat for Humanity. Through this alliance Thrivent Financial becomes Habitat’s largest, single ally in its mission to eliminate substandard housing and rebuild communities.
A large portion of the funding will come from Thrivent Builds with Habitat for Humanity. Additional funding came from the Rock Island and Scott County Thrivent Chapters, Wells Fargo and Trinity Lutheran Church Foundation. These groups also provided volunteers to build this home along with folks from Quad City area Lutheran churches. The lot for this property was acquired through the assistance of the City of Rock Island.
During the Home Dedication Ceremony, the
home will be blessed and the house keys presented to the Hall family.
Those who attend this event will also be able to meet the partner family
and tour their home. |
