House #145

Katelyn & family

What homeowner ship means to them
"As a single mother of four incredible sons, my greatest goal has always been to provide them with a stable, safe, and loving home.  However, finding affordable, long-term housing has been a constant challenge.  Rent prices continue to rise, making it difficult to secure a place that meets our needs without financial strain.  Despite working hard and balancing multiple responsibilities, I've often felt like I was just trying to stay afloat rather than being able to build a secure future for my family.
When I learned about Habitat for Humanity's homeownership program, I saw an opportunity not just for housing, but for stability, security, and hope.  Becoming a partner family wasn't just about applying for a home, it was about committing to a process of learning, giving back, and working alongside others to create something meaningful.  It meant showing my sons firsthand the power of perseverance, community, and generosity.  Being accepted into this program is a blessing, and I am beyond grateful for the volunteers and supporters who are helping make this dream a reality."

A message to volunteers

"From the bottom of my heart, thank you.  Words cannot fully express the gratitude I feel for each and every one of you who took the time, energy, and effort to help build my family's home.  You didn't just hammer nails, raise walls, or lay foundations, you helped create a place where my children and I will build our future, filled with love, laughter, and stability.
...Having a home of our own means more than I can put into words... none of this would be possible without your generosity, hard work, and selflessness.  You have given more than just your time, you have given hope, and that is a gift that will last for generations.
...From my family to yours, thank you for being part of this journey with us.  May the kindness you have shown return to you tenfold.  You are forever a part of our home's story, and we will never forget what you have done for us.
With immense gratitude,
Katelyn"

family mentors
Once accepted into the Habitat program, Katelyn was paired with Pam Janoski who work with them throughout the program.

groundbreaking
Katelyn worked to earn her sweat equity hours. Sweat equity refers to time spent working on job sites, working at our restore or office, hours spent attending classes to learn about budgeting, use of credit, home maintenance and escrow/insurance. Every adult in the home must earn 250 hours, not easy when working, raising a family, but they are well on their way.

coming summer 2025

work begins on the house
Katelyn can earn sweat equity working on her own home. Families get to pick from 3 different house plans once they meet their sweat equity needs. Now they can earn sweat equity working on their own home.
