House #131
Mevi & Family about the family Mevi has been in the United States for 18 years and she has worked for Group O for 6 years. She wanted to pursue home ownership to have stability for her two teenage daughters. She heard about Habitat through her parish at Christ the King Catholic Church in Moline. She is so thankful to Habitat and all the volunteers who helped her become a homeowner. What homeowner ship means to them "Homeownership means having a place to call my own and a place for my family and I to live peacefully." became a partner family 2022 dedication Friday, April 12, 2024 |

the repair home
Habitat has the best volunteers in the world! Their love and hard work ensures the success of this build. With supervisor Rich Craddick
and Dave Bloom this build was possible. This house was part of 3 house that we obtained from the City of Davenport and repaired them.
Mevi worked to earn her sweat equity hours. Sweat equity refers to time spent working on job sites, working at our restore or office, hours spent attending classes to learn about budgeting, use of credit, home maintenance and escrow/insurance. Every adult in the home must earn 250 hours, not easy when working, raising a family, but Mevi is well on her way. Now they can earn sweat equity working on their own home.
dedication
To earn her home, Mevi have earned 250 hours of sweat equity as required by Habitat International. Not only has she been working hard by building her home, but she has also been learning about becoming responsible homeowners by attending classes to learn about budgeting, use of credit, home maintenance and escrow/insurance. All while working full time and attending to family needs. We are so proud of Mevi for her hard work to earn this opportunity to become homeowners!
the finished house
Mevi will now start her mortgage payments. Habitat homeowners pay a low-down payment on a zero percent interest mortgage for 25-30 years. Monthly payments will be affordable at less than 30% of their household income.
